A Promising Life Cut Short
Gurugram, July 11 – In a deeply shocking incident, 25-year-old Radhika Yadav, a state-level tennis player and coach, was allegedly shot dead by her father at their residence in Sushant Lok, Sector 57, Gurugram, on the morning of July 10. According to the police, the fatal shooting followed a heated argument between the two over a social media video. The accused, identified as Deepak Yadav (49), allegedly fired three rounds from his licensed .32 bore revolver, fatally injuring Radhika. She was shot in the back and died on the spot. Police arrested Deepak Yadav at the scene and have booked him under charges of murder.

Social Media Reel Sparked Argument
Initial investigations suggest that a disagreement over an Instagram reel recorded by Radhika triggered the fatal altercation. While there were ongoing tensions within the family, this particular incident appears to have escalated the conflict. Sandeep Kumar, Public Relations Officer of Gurugram Police, confirmed to Hindustan Times that “a social media post may have led to tensions in the house,” adding that the revolver used in the crime has been recovered.
Viral Music Video Featuring Radhika
Amid the ongoing investigation, a music video starring Radhika has gone viral on social media platforms. The video, released earlier this year by LLF Records and produced by Zeeshan Ahmad, features Radhika alongside artist INAAM in several scenes. While many speculated that the video may have contributed to her father’s outrage, police officials have stated that “nothing concrete” links the music video to the crime. “There is no evidence at this time suggesting the video played a role in the motive,” said one officer familiar with the case.
Clash Over Independence and Social Media Activity
Sources close to the investigation revealed that Deepak Yadav was struggling to come to terms with his daughter’s growing independence and success. Radhika ran her own tennis academy in Gurugram and was financially self-reliant, something that reportedly caused resentment within her household. According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (Sadar) Yashwant Yadav, “The father asked her repeatedly to shut the tennis academy, but she refused. Arguments had taken place earlier as well. He finally shot her dead over the same dispute.” Further reports suggest that Deepak faced social ridicule in their native village of Wazirabad, where people mocked him for “living off” his daughter’s earnings. In his confession, Deepak allegedly said he could “no longer bear the humiliation,” and that the blow to his pride was too much to handle.
